dorsal view, head; Eigenmann & Eigenmann (1889:48) listed 3 lots, 2 with the same number, as such: "Type, No. 7983; one specimen, female .13m. Gurupa. Prof. Agassiz. No. 7983; five specimens, female .06-.10m. Tabatinga. Bourget. No. 7984; five specimens, male & female .07-.13m. Tabatinga. Bourget." "Type" (= holotype) is currently MCZ 7993 (SL 86 mm); remaining specimens in MCZ 7983 (5) and 7984 (5) considered paratypes.
